- For four weeks in a row we have had limited precipitation, abundant solar radiation but low nighttime temperatures
- 8,8 mm – about 1/3 of an inch of rainfall was recorded
- Average minimum air temperature was 21°C (69,9°F)
- The average was 25,4°C (77,7°F)
- Several nighttime temperatures this week were below 20 Celsius (68°F)
- Soil temperature rose slightly to 25,9°C (78,6°F)
- Harvest strategy continues unchanged
- 88.1% of the volume was harvested at 20 WAF
- 7.5% at 21 WAF and a small portion of early young fruit at 19 WAF (4.4%).
- Average sugar content declined slightly to 14.3 º Brix – 78.6% of the sample was at desirable brix level between 13.5 and 15.5
- Fruit texture continues to improve and we had less variability in pulp firmness between samples
- Those nighttime temperatures below 20 Celsius (68°F) could bring NDF events but is too early to quantify
- The nor’easter that dumped record snowfall in parts of the East Coast of the USA will certainly bring some impact to our region
- We anticipate harvest age increase with lower temperatures slowing down maturation process
- Covid 19 infection rates continue high – 28,106 new cases reported
- The farms remain relatively free of Covid 19
