Add Tropical Flavor to Your Everyday Drinking Water

Looking for a great way to stay healthy and hydrated this summer? Try adding pineapple to your everyday drinking water! Pineapples provide a multitude of health benefits including supporting the immune system, improving eye health, and promoting heart function. Tossing some fruit into your everyday water is a simple way to obtain extra vitamins and give your drink a sweet taste and tropical flavor! With just a few ingredients, pineapple-infused water is easy to make and can be enjoyed during any time of the day. Read on for some of our favorites to try for yourself.

Why Hydration is Key to Health

Without enough water, our bodies will struggle to break down the food we eat and to absorb the nutrients it contains. Although this water can be obtained through different foods and beverages, including sodas and juices, plain water is the most hydrating and, because it doesn’t contain calories, is least likely to lead to other negative side effects. Unfortunately, other options are often more appealing: a study from the CDC found that American adults get only between 30 and 34 percent of their daily water intake from plain water.

Luckily, adding fresh fruits (and vegetables!) to our plain water is a simple way to give it a boost of flavor and keep our drink selection interesting. With its sweet and tangy tropical flavor, pineapple is the perfect addition to water to keep your body hydrated and healthy.

The Secret to Pineapple Power

Pineapples are a great source of Vitamin C, which the body uses to build and repair tissue. One cup of chopped pineapple contains 78.9 mg of Vitamin C – more than oranges and most other fruits! Pineapples are also packed with enzymes like bromelain and antioxidants that help with digestion and cleansing the body.

Much like green juice, fruit-infused water is a great way to add some extra nutrients to your daily diet. However, remember that the whole fruit will always contain greater nutritional benefit. Pineapple-infused water should be an addition to your fruit intake – not a substitute.

Mango, Pineapple, and Mint-Infused Water

Though pineapple and mint alone are a deliciously refreshing combination (even Dr. Oz is a fan of this pairing), we love the addition of mango here for an extra tropical twist. It’s the perfect drink for summer!
