We know it’s hard to believe, but this week’s 145.5 mm (5.7 inches) of precipitation was a welcomed improvement. With about a 50 percent decrease in rains, temperatures increased and, naturally, less cloud coverage allowed for more solar radiation. There is no doubt that pineapples respond positively to climate. This week’s changes support that claim by our farms reporting improvements in almost all quality variables.
Yet, even with the improvements, the remaining moisture in the soil has continued to delay farm practices in preparing for new planting grounds. Positive weather reports for next week anticipate additional decreases in precipitation to help alleviate this issue.
