July just doesn’t seem to let up. With more than seven straight days of rainfall, is there a need to say more? The more than 295 mm (11.6 inches) of precipitation during Week 28 has more than likely set a record for a weekly period during 2015. And with the strong winds and dense cloud coverage as a result from all these storms, it’s no surprise that temperatures decreased across the board and allowed for only low to moderate solar radiation.
In addition to concerns about quality and harvest age reductions, what is most concerning is flooding in the lowlands decreasing the inventory of prepared land for planting. In order to avoid an interruption in our planting program, we need conditions to improve in order to adequately prepare land.
