The dry season is definitely upon us! With absolutely zero rainfall during Week 18, very hot days and mostly clear skies provided excellent conditions for the production of The Perfect Pineapple. Reports included sugar, flavor and aroma at very acceptable levels.
Although a wonderful change from rain, with sunny days such as these there is some risk of, sunburn and “corky fruit.” Our farm practices, however, include the application of “white kaolinite” (a natural sunblock) sprayed to recently flowered fruit, a precaution to avoid such risks.
