For anyone living in the northeast region of the United States, know that you’re not alone this terrifying winter. Costa Rica’s pineapple plantations may not have to worry about snow, however, climatic conditions are deteriorating here just the same. Because, just when we thought the rain was letting up…Week 08 happened!
With cold fronts in the northern hemisphere ruthlessly launching a continuous stream of overcast days and low temperatures, Week 08 could quite possibly be the worst week this season. More than 144 mm (5.7 inches) of rain fell throughout the week, with some days experiencing very low solar radiation.
And while quality remains acceptable as we maintain rigorous sampling, we have begun to discuss decisions related to lowering harvest age.
