Mid-week clear skies and sunshine brought about a welcomed change from the rainy weather conditions seen during the previous week! After suffering torrential downpours of up to 7 inches of rain, weather improvements seen by Wednesday allowed farms to advance on land preparation work that had been delayed, as well as continue harvesting NDF fruit with minimal complication.
On the quality front, improved characteristics are also mirroring the improved weather conditions. The degree of fruit translucency improved significantly and the volume of immature fruit was low, while flavor, aroma and internal coloration also continue to show less variability.
The weather service has announced incoming stable conditions for our region in the next few weeks as a low pressure system along the Pacific coast draws moisture away from the area. Less rain and higher solar radiation is anticipated! Want to know what that means for Week 25 at market? Click here to receive each week’s full industry report.
