Read this week’s pineapple report.
Most days of the week brought heavy showers with a few dry days in the middle
157 mm (6.2 inches) of precipitation recorded
Relative humidity rose to 83.4%
Min temperature was 23.4 C (74.1 F) and the average stable at 26.6 C (79.9 F)
We lowered harvest age and harvested 91% at 21 WAF
Industry volumes are still very limited

The Perfect Pineapple Production Report Week 33
– A favorable turn in the weather, especially compared to prior 2 weeks
– Sunny dry week days with showers during the weekend
– 48.8 mm (less than 2.0 inches) of precipitation recorded
– Average air and soil temperatures rose
– Most fruit harvested at 21 WAF
– Quality continues to be outstanding
– Positive advance in all good husbandry practices and land prep

The Perfect Pineapple Report Week 32
- Atmospheric conditions varied almost daily
- Rainy overcast days followed by dry and sunny periods
- 89.3 mm ( 3.5 inches) of precipitation
- Precipitation was half the prior week
- Forecast for following week is for improved conditions
- Most good husbandry practices back to normal except land prep
- Quality is outstanding

The Perfect Pineapple Report Week 31
-An intense tropical wave moved through Central American isthmus
-Caribbean and Northern regions of Costa Rica impacted
-Total weekly precipitation was 200 mm ( 9 inches)
-More than half of the total was on Monday when the wave went through!
-Temperatures very stable as expected for this time of the year
-July had been rather dry for the first half, it is usually a very rainy month
-Some ag practices delayed but nothing to be concerned
-Industry volumes continue to be short
-Market demand strong and prices higher than we have seen in 10 years

The Perfect Pineapple Report Week 30
- A typical tropical shift in the weather – nightly evening drizzles brought
- 23.1 mm (slightly less than 1.0 inch) of precipitation
- Warm days, with intermittent sun & clouds
- Soil preparation, new plantings and good husbandry practices all caught up
- Conditions ideal for good quality fruit
- Industry volume is low, demand is strong – anticipated will last a few more weeks
- Students continue on strike; few roadblocks quickly dismantled
- Some public employees are signaling their support of student demands

The Perfect Pineapple Report Week 29
- Almost no variation in climatic conditions from one week to the next
- 110.4 mm (4.4 inches) of rainfall recorded
- Minimum air temperature down just barely 0.05 ̊̊C (1.0 ̊F) to 22.9 C (73.1 F)
- Average temperature identical to prior week
- Started a reduction in harvest age – less fruit harvested at 22 WAF and an increase in % fruit harvested at 20 and 21 WAF
- Internal quality is outstanding but low external color has increased
- Industry supplies in downward spiral following NDF harvest; some indications volume for BOY will be lower than 2018
- Abundant precipitation during 3rd quarter of 2018 reduced ability to plant
- Extreme dry spell at the end of 2018 and early 2019 slowed plant growth
- Market conditions during 2018 forced some farms to limit good husbandry practices and even reduce new plantings

The Perfect Pineapple Production Report Week 28
Climatic conditions very similar to prior week – evening showers and some overcast days
- 111.8 mm (4.4 inches) of precipitation accumulated
- After 2 weeks of overcast skies and heavy showers, air and soil temperatures have dropped
- Harvest age stable
- Industry volume is limited and demand strong.
- Transport blockades lifted as President Alvarado authorized operative to act against groups blocking important highways.
- Two days later the President announced an agreement was reached and established a dialogue forum to deal exclusively with transport sector complaints.
