It’s been a rough first week in 2015. As predicted, winter rains and low temperatures have contributed to strategic farming changes, such as increasing harvest age. Nearly 90% of our fruit is being harvested at 21 WAF.
Unfortunately, all signs point to a continuation of these poor weather conditions. As a result, we are doubling our sampling efforts on the fields to detect any quality issues as quickly as possible. Weather may also affect vessel schedules in and out of the Port of Limon, even as demand continues to increase and supplies become more limited.
Here’s to hoping Mother Nature changes her tune pretty soon!
